Jimmie Busby and Frank Cook. Because of his health, Frank is pretty much confined to his home in Forney. Jimmy visited Frank in his shop almost every Tuesday for 3 years. Marybess also visited Frank in his shop many times. This was a great 3 way learning experience as Frank is an excellent machinist with great lathe skills.
This photo shows David Burton from the UK with the instructor Marybess Grisham. In September of 2003, Earl spent a week in Dallas working and learning in Marybess's shop. Observe the number 34 SWCC clock on the wall. This model was made to be hung outdoors on the platform at the train depot. The vibrations of the trains tended to get the clocks out of beat. This model was designed to get itself back into beat with no human intervention!!
Earl Bateman with a model 81 SWCC Movement.
Bob Cochran holds a wheel from a SWCC movement. Yes, the clock winds every 5 minutes; thus the reason for the 12 teeth on this wheel. We didn't think it was proper to only show Bob's hand, so we overlaid the photo with a photo of his face!
One of the fine students in the class was Bill Edwards. We couldn't find a photo of Bill doing anything in the class, but we thought we should post his handsome face so Mrs. Edwards would know he really was going out to study SWCC Clocks!!!
