One of the highlights at the Saturday night banquet was the entrance of NAWCC President George Orr (left) and outgoing NAWCC President David Morgan (right) riding Longhorn steers. Following behind, with a shovel, is Tom Bartels, NAWCC Exec. Dir. All three of these gentlemen are Chapter 124 members.
Another of the fuctions handled by Chapter 124 people was the Internet Center. Chapter Secretary/Treasurer Clinton Kleen managed the setting up and operation of the 6 computers, all with Internet connectivity. Clinton gave classes on various horologically related subjects connected with the Internet. The Internet Center was a very popular place during the mart hours. In this picture, Gene Meysenburg is enjoying the Internet access with 2 other National attenders.
Chapter members Bill Young and Jimmy Young gave an educational presentation on the "Monastery Clock" on which they have done extensive research. The presentation was well attended and generated a lot of interest.
Terry Brotherton, a Houston, Texas member of Chapter 124, served as General Chairperson of the 1999 NAWCC National Convention. We wish you could hear the magnificent music from syphonium, player piano, callipes, etc. that Terry and his committee members arranged for members attending the event in Houston to hear and enjoy as they roamed the Mart and Exhibit rooms. Congratulations to Terry and the National committee! Good job, ya'll!!
Fred and Pam Tischler enjoyed the National Convention in Houston. Fred now is a Past Director, and we thank him for his four years of conscientious service. President Orr appointed him Chair of the Education Committee, replacing John Plume who resigned for health reasons. Pam was frequently seen working at the Registration Desk!
Photo of Phil Gregory & J.C.Cohen
That fellow in the foreground—Phil Gregory—had every reason to rejoice. He was Administrator of the Friday night auction, which everyone deemed a huge success. More than that, he was 'Grand Door Prize' winner at the Saturday night banquet! J. C. Cohen, Ft. Lauderdale, was another happy #124 member attending the National. He was one of the honored speakers, and enjoyed a good turn-out for his presentation. Congratulations to both.
One of the functions at the National which was handled by Chapter 124 was the auction. The auctioneer was Chapter 124 President Ron Slama. In this photo, you see Phil Gregory and Karen Summerville sitting amongst the clocks to be auctioned.
